Databases are electronic management systems which depict large quantities of data efficiently, consistently, and without any time restrictions and moreover provide a large amount of complex information. Within the company and business context, databases guarantee the structured depiction of customer, product and inventory information and also depict the entire production process, e.g. in the form of ERP systems. In this regard, the database – in this sense, also to be understood as a data pool or data stock – represents the total of the information provided and forms the foundation for the database management system or the database system, also referred to in shortened form as: DBMS or DBS. The latter manages the database, has direct access to the corresponding information and enables targeted queries owing to a corresponding database query language.

In order to manage databases and thus to fulfil the high standards demanded by digitalisation, qualified IT professionals are needed. As the leading personnel consulting firm in the digital Division, PALTRON identifies with complex executive search processes and data-based recruiting candidate profiles on the market which fulfil your individual requirements.

Via our large network, the constantly-growing candidate pool as well as algorithm-driven search strategies, we will find the suitable database experts for you.

Without Professional Database Administration, Companies Lose Competitive Advantages.

During the course of the development of computer technologies and the digitalisation, databases have been acquiring ever-greater importance since the 1960s and the possibilities of queries have further developed continuously since then. In this context, databases can contain data sets from a modest scope to databases in the range of many millions. As already stated, the database management system is assigned a central function in the systematic collection of data, their maintenance and management. From this perspective, it must also be understood to be the interface between external queries and the database itself. A Database Administrator (DBA) once again manages and configures database management systems. Also the guaranteeing of the fulfilment of the current security standards is among his sphere of responsibilities.

Thus, this position is assigned great importance within all company structures because a constant maintenance of databases is indispensable for the company’s success. The structuring of the data sets is done based upon a different model and is the foundation for each database. The hierarchical structure – also comparable with a tree diagramme – is the oldest database model. The data sets are connected with a single superordinated predecessor (record). Links between various levels are not possible here and the hierarchical structure is particularly vulnerable to disruptions and attacks because they occur from the top going downward. In the relational structure, the storage and the management of the data occur in a spreadsheet format whereby the data objects are in relationship to one another. The database query language called SQL (Structured Query Language) realises queries in the relational structure. In this context, MY SQL, Oracle, MY SQL Server or Sybase are considered to be standard languages for relational databases. While data sets are connected to each other like in a network in a network database model, object-oriented database models depict in the object classes and object sub-classes – PostgreQSL should be mentioned as a prominent example here. In the meantime, databases have been established as Warenwirtschaftssysteme [Inventory Management Systems](WWS), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Content Management Systems (CMS) or Customer Relationship Management (CRM) in the company environment and, through the constant availability of relevant data sets, form the backbone of important company divisions.

In order to guarantee the successful management and administration of your database systems over the long term, at PALTRON, we search for the suitable database experts for you. As the leading personnel consulting firm, in order to do this, we utilise executive search processes and, in addition to specialised expertise, place special importance on the cultural fit.
