What is the difference between IT Engineers and Systems Engineers?

IT engineers and systems engineers are often lumped together. But there is a significant difference between the two, despite their shared knowledge of computers and networks. 

Systems engineers deal with the development and design of technical systems. They are often responsible for researching, designing and integrating complex systems that need to meet specific requirements of a business. This can include both hardware and software and can be used in a variety of industries, such as automotive, aerospace, telecommunications and electronics.

IT engineers, also IT system engineers, on the other hand, focus mainly on the development and operation of IT systems. This usually includes the planning, configuration, maintenance and optimisation of physical hardware such as servers, computers and networks. This also includes managing databases, cloud computing systems and security technologies. Especially security.

So the difference between the two professions is that systems engineers focus on the development and design of technical systems in general, while IT engineers / IT systems engineers specialise specifically in the development and operation of IT systems.

What are the most common challenges IT engineers face?

IT engineers often face a variety of challenges in their work. The most challenging ones are: complexity, innovation and security. Dealing with the complexity of modern IT systems is the DNA of their job.
